May Pao is an accomplished leader in the development and implementation of innovative technology. Ms. Pao currently serves as the President of Concitor, Inc., a consulting firm working with high-tech companies to drive growth. Ms. Pao formerly worked as vice president, Global Partnerships at Zebra Technologies Corporation. Prior to Zebra, she led the joint effort to develop and launch a secure communications infrastructure for Cisco Systems. Ms. Pao has expansive marketing expertise, developing methodologies that increased growth and productivity in commercial sales, generating $59M in pipeline across multiple markets and establishing the benchmark for technology programs. She was president and CEO from 1999 to 2000 for Harmonic Vision, a major developer and publisher of music education software. Ms. Pao developed strategies that generated the revenue for the company to $1.4 million. She grew the company’s software product, Music Ace, into the top-selling music education software.
Ms. Pao served as the director of Motorola from 1995-1999 and launched a services start-up that used speech recognition technology to access Internet content and messages. She defined and prioritized key strategic issues and identified business opportunities to double the growth of a $4 billion land mobile products sector. From 1989 to 1995 Ms. Pao was the senior manager, business markets marketing for MCI, a major telecommunications company. She drove the paging product from concept to launch within ninety days and grew the product to more than $400 million in annualized revenue. Ms. Pao launched the ISDN product line and grew revenue to $30 million in six months.
Ms. Pao received her MBA and MEng in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and has a BSE in Engineering Management Systems from Princeton University. She received recognition as one of the top 25 Chicago women in technology by i-Street Magazine in July 2000. Ms. Pao has received the following product awards: Codie Semi-finalist in 2001 for Harmonic Vision’s Music Ace 2 product; Best Product Award from Better Homes and Gardens, Working Woman, Fortune, Parade, Parents Magazine, and Children’s Software Revue, 2000; Bronze Medalist, BusinessWeek’s Industrial Design Excellence Awards, 1996; Motorola’s Commpad; Comnet Best New Product Achievement Award, 1994, MCI’s ISDN.
