For 20 years, Tonya Manning had the same goal – she wanted to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Although financial hardships, and life changes were thrown her way – she kept her eyes on her goal. As she attended an RN program, Tonya was also working part time. Unfortunately, due to a significant life change, Tonya wasn’t able to perform successfully in the program and had to pause her pursuits. This was when Tonya connected with National Able Network. She applied for and was accepted to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program!

Tonya worked with career coach Rocio Montoya to determine exactly what needed to be done for Tonya to succeed in her goal and find stable, long-term employment. As they worked together, Tonya decided to continue the RN program at a different school – which turns out made a positive impact. The change in environment, in addition to the support from her career coach and peers, led Tonya to be number one in her class!

Upon successful completion of the program, Tonya was able to find employment as an LPN. Regarding her experience, Tonya says, “I am thankful for my career coach’s invaluable assistance, she helped me reach a goal I’ve had for over 20 years. I was able to achieve one of my biggest goals in life….The program was phenomenal. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made.”
