Bring Your Manners to Work Today (and Every Day!)
September 1, 2017 Non-profit, Training 2

National Able Network’s Customer Contact Center is one of the main entry points for job seekers in need of assistance. Therefore, it is super important for the Contact Center representatives (Senior Community Service Employment Program participants) to be kind, patient and always have the best manners! I began my career at National Able Network as the Customer Contact Center Team lead and am now the Supervisor. I’ve been “in the trenches” so-to-speak with the other representatives and I know what it’s like make sure you are helpful and polite to customers (even when they don’t return the favor!)
In honor of Bring Your Manners to Work Day, here are some tips I share with the representatives (and myself) on how to stay positive and bring your manners to work every day!
-Start each day with a clean slate. It’s not always easy to bring your manners to work. If you had a hectic morning or if you’re upset from something that happened the day before, it can really affect your workflow. I advise my team to start every day as a new day, it helps them to stay positive.
-Smile in person and while on the phone. This might seem strange, but if you smile while talking on the phone, callers can “hear” it in your voice! Smiling while on the phone and in person (even if you don’t want to) will help you improve your outlook and your manners, I promise! (If you don’t believe me, check out this article.) Pro-tip: This is also great advice to anyone who has an upcoming phone interview!
-Practice customer service with everyone at work. Whether you’re dealing with fellow employees or actual customers, every job has some element of customer service! It’s important to treat everyone with respect, especially in the workplace. Even if you’re having an off day, a little kindness goes a long way for most people.
The job (Bring Your Manner to Work Today and Everyday ) is just the perfect selection for me. I am an excellent communication skills. I’ve worked as an Office Management Clerk for The Chicago Boatd of Education. For sixteen years, I practiced excellent multiple tasking skills,
I have experienced working in an office setting one has an opportunity to heal others just by having a pleasant smile with a pleasant greeting can make a difference between life and death to that person.
