Help Us Protect the Senior Community Service Employment Program!
May 1, 2017 Non-profit, Senior Services, Workforce 2

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) was created in 1965, and since then, it has helped thousands of low income, unemployed older workers find jobs and fine tune their job skills. But today, SCSEP is in danger and we need your help. Current legislation proposes a drastic cut to SCSEP funding, which means 65,000 older workers would lose the opportunities available to them through the current program.
If you participated in SCSEP or currently are participating – you can help protect SCSEP just sharing your story! How did SCSEP change your life?

The SCSEP Program has been such an essential aid to me! I relocated to Georgia in and was not able to get a job as I am now older and job opportunity in my area is very limited. Someone told about the program and I signed up, was accepted and am now working! I’m am ever so grateful for this program. It really, really helps me financially.
The SCSEP program as been an essential aid to me also. I am 57 years of age and do to my medical issues, I was unable to work the way I would want to. I found out about this program through a mutual friend. I was given information about the program, signed up and was placed and have been working under the program now for 2 years. The only thing that i don’t agree with is the pay rate. Making minimum wage is really not enough with the cost of living.
