April 18, 2017 Non-profit, Workforce 0

Tonji Jones was unfortunately laid off from her shuttle bus driver position at Loyola University along with several of her co-workers, but she didn’t let this deter her from finding her next career! Tonji worked as a shuttle bus and delivery driver since 2009, but she always wanted to pursue her Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to upgrade her employment prospects. After a few weeks of unemployment, Tonji started to work on her career goals and came to National Able Network for additional resources to help her earn her CDL!
Prior to training for her CDL, Tonji needed to advance her skills and pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). She attended adult education classes through National Able Network for two weeks and was ready to take the test! Through her dedication and support from her Career Coach, Rodney Hall, and Program Manager, Calvin Lewis, Tonji was able to upgrade her skills and pass her TABE exam with flying colors!
“The program was very, very helpful for me. I really appreciate it. It taught me a lot of things that I hadn’t done in a long time,” said Tonji.
Tonji is now on her way to taking CDL classes and gearing up to earn her Class A License in a few weeks! We wish you that very best of luck, Tonji!
