March 10, 2017 Training, Workforce 0

As a wife and busy mother of three, Devon Griggs found that balance of both her professional and personal life. She was also gainfully employed at Mondelez International for 16 years. Throughout her career at Mondelez, Devon worked her way up the corporate ladder while building her professional skills like managing budgets, overseeing operation productivity, and creating timetables. Unfortunately, in 2016, Mondelez announced that it was moving its company from Chicago to Mexico, and Devon’s job was one of the thousands that were affected.

After being laid off, Devon came to National Able Network and was eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance program. She began working with Career Coach, Patty Enriquez, who helped Devon determine the next steps in her career path. Devon decided that continuing her education would be the best choice in starting a new career path. With the benefits offered through Trade Adjustment Assistance, Devon was able to enroll full-time to earn her bachelor’s degree. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.5!
With her newly obtained bachelor’s degree, Devon found a career as the Corporate Sanitation Director of Consumer Foods with a global baking company! In her new position, Devon gained a 20 percent increase in her wages compared to her previous career!
Devon credits her dedication and the support of Patty in making her educational and career goals possible. When asked about her experience, Devon said the level of encouragement and support she received from Patricia was pivotal. “Thank you for all of your continued support and help towards achieving my bachelor’s degree. You have made the entire process a lot easier than it could have been. You are amazing Patty!”
Congratulations, Devon!
