After having been laid off from a career in healthcare administration for the second time in just a few years, Tamar West was frustrated and uncertain about what to do next. She decided to take a step back and ask herself what her career goals were.

Her answer soon become obvious: She wanted a career in Information Technology!

Tamar already had plenty of experience in this field, having worked in the U.S. Navy as an information technician. She had hoped to return to the industry as a civilian, and now she saw an opportunity to do so, but she needed the attain the right credentials first.

Tamar came to National Able Network in hopes of finding career assistance and training support. Tamar learned about IT Career Lab and was immediately interested! She was blown away by the program and how effectively her instructors conveyed so much complex information to her so quickly. Tamar enrolled in IT Career Lab and went on to earn her Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certifications. IT Career Lab Account Manager Jon Kimmel was there to help her in the next step. “Jon kept in contact with me after I had left the program and was feeling a little overwhelmed. He reached out to his contacts, sent out my resume, and he worked so hard to help me get an interview.” With Jon’s help, Tamar is back in the IT profession working as a Technical Support Specialist!

Tamar was grateful to the staff and how hard they worked to see her succeed: “They’re great, encouraging and hands-on.” Tamar loves her job and has even recommended National Able Network to friends and family!

Congratulations Tamar!
