National Able Network (Able) is happy to announce the launch of its Information Technology Sector Center, the premiere resource that connects local businesses with job seekers to help build Chicago’s booming information technology sector!

To kick-off the launch of the Information Technology Sector Center, Able recently hosted its first Employer Advisory Committee breakfast, which provided a venue for local businesses to discuss market conditions and hiring challenges in the sector. The focus of this first event was on information technology staffing and recruiting markets, with seven of the Chicagoland area’s most influential agencies represented at the table. Attendees discussed hiring trends for the coming quarters and gave input on in-demand training and certifications. In turn, the Information Technology Sector Center representatives talked about how the workforce community can best partner with Chicago area employers to help fill their information technology hiring needs.

“It’s clear that employers place a premium on candidates who have valuable technology certifications – particularly folks looking to enter the information technology job market with limited experience,” said Information Technology Sector Center Program Manager, David Jacobs. “We’re looking forward to partnering with these firms in the coming months to help connect job seekers with their open information technology positions.  We’ve also brought on a full time team of skilled Account Managers to help get candidates back into the workforce.  They’re not only working with these staffing and recruiting agencies, but with Fortune 500 companies and other area businesses. Our role is to make sure that Cook County job seekers who are interested in an information technology career get matched with employers.”

The Employer Advisory Committee plans to meet quarterly, with the next meeting tentatively set for November. Businesses interested in participating in the next event should contact David Jacobs at
