At CareerPlace, we love it when our clients land a new career. On average, CareerPlace clients find careers in only 5.9 months!  I was recently asked to author a blog post about CareerPlace’s services, but I thought our past client, Gerry, would do more justice in describing CareerPlace’s services in her own words…

Looking for a job can be a confusing, overwhelming and an intimidating process in today’s world.  There is a myriad of job boards, recruitment firms and career consultants available online. I turned to multiple career placement organizations for help.  All of these organizations offered coaching, workshops and networking events, but not one inspired or motivated me in my job search until I found CareerPlace. CareerPlace is staffed with passionate, energetic people, driving highly organized, results-oriented processes.

Workshops are offered by most workforce development organizations, but CareerPlace sets itself apart in that its workshops are structured more like a curriculum. CareerPlace offers more than a dozen workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills, online research tools and networking. Once a month there is a networking event hosted by a sister organization, Executive Network Group.  It is a half-day session that starts with a keynote speaker and ends with three speed networking sessions where you exchange information with upwards of 20 people.

The coaches at CareerPlace are seasoned veterans that provide advice and support.  My coach was part advisor, part cheerleader.  There’s a lot of rejection when searching for a job, so it was very helpful to have somebody pointing out the positives and supporting me through my journey.

Finally, CareerPlace offers Job Search Work Teams that meet for two hours each week.  Members report on specific metrics, including: hours spent on job search, number of positions applied to, number of people talked to, number of interviews, etc..  These teams are very powerful because they generate camaraderie (you are not alone in the job search), support (professional connections), and competitiveness (I want to get my job application number up, or network with more people).

I’m happy to say I landed a new job opportunity – all thanks to Career Place!

CareerPlace offers orientations every Monday at 10:00 A.M. at their office in Barrington, Ill. Click here to register for an upcoming orientation.
