Older Americans Month Client Spotlight: Deborah Jackson
May 13, 2014 Senior Services, Training, Workforce 1

National Able Network’s Illinois Senior Services Department is very excited to highlight our wonderful Senior Community Service Employment Program participant, Deborah Jackson!
Deborah came to National Able Network in December of 2012 after being recently laid off from her Patient Care Technician job in DeKalb, Illinois, where she had worked at for almost 10 years. She enrolled in our Seniors Having Information For Tomorrow program where she attended Job Readiness Training (JRT) workshops.
Deborah says that Able’s JRT workshops helped her learn how to create a resume for this current job market, taught her how to promote herself and feel more comfortable and confident while going on interviews. For the past year, Deborah has been involved with Able’s Senior Community Service Employment Program where she developed her typing and computer skills.
Deborah is currently working towards completing her Certification in Medical Assisting and her goals are to secure employment as a Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician in a hospital or in-home care environment. She is passionate about this work because she feels strongly that the elderly should be able to age comfortably in their homes, helping them to maintain their sense of independence and self-respect.
Deborah enjoys spending time with her clients and promoting healthy activities by assisting with their use or motor skills, conversing with them about current events or taking them out on social outings.
Deborah Jackson would bring professionalism, knowledge and compassion to any patient care or medical assistant position!
