Clifford “Cliff” Whitehouse came to the Chicago Workforce Center in August 2011 and was enrolled in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program through National Able Network. With Able’s help, Cliff was able to access WIA funding to pay tuition for the Physician’s Assistant program that he was enrolled in at Malcolm X College.
Prior to coming to National Able Network, Cliff worked as an Athletic Trainer at Athletico for eight years. Since he was only able to work an average of 20-40 hours per month, Cliff needed a more stable career. While he was enrolled in training in the Physician’s Assistant program, Cliff supported himself waiting tables and bartending.
Cliff’s persistence and hard work paid off as he completed his training, his rotations, and passed the board exams. Cliff started working as a Physician Assistant for Northwest Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in February 2014 and now earns over six figures!
It’s successes like these that make the work I do as a Career Coach at Able worth it. Not only did Cliff find a great career, he expressed his gratitude for the support and guidance that he feels I provided as his Career Coach,  and commended National Able Network as an agency for providing outstanding services. There aren’t many better reasons to come to work than people like Cliff.
