President & CEO Grace Jenkins joined National Able Network, Inc., in February 2003 as President and CEO. Ms. Jenkins is responsible for overall management of the Illinois-based nonprofit agency among its nine principal offices in the Chicago metropolitan area, as well as service locations in Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. She oversees a budget of $18M and a staff of 130 full-time employees. A seasoned business executive, Ms. Jenkins carries with her a wide variety of corporate management and military service experience. Before joining Able, she served as President and CEO of River Consulting, Ltd. specializing in market and product development and private equity financing. Ms. Jenkins also cofounded a wireless software infrastructure firm in 1999 and, as CEO, led the firm in developing the world’s first software platform capable of delivering integrated voice, text, and graphics over wireless. From 1993 through 1999, Ms. Jenkins served in multiple executive-level roles
at Motorola, Inc., including General Manager and Senior Director of Operations
and Marketing for Motorola’s cellular infrastructure business. In that
capacity, she was responsible for Ms. Jenkins is also a military veteran with nine years of service as a United States Air Force officer. She worked as a missile design engineer on the MX (Peacekeeper) missile system and as a military jet pilot and aircraft commander with more 2,000 flying hours. Ms. Jenkins led the first pilot test team evaluating the C-17 cockpit design and served as director for foreign military exercises under the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She was awarded the USAF Commendation Medal, the USAF Meritorious Service Medal, and the Airlift Association’s Young Leadership Award. Ms. Jenkins has an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Stanford University, an MA in strategic marketing from Webster University, and a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University.
Maureen Wilson joined National Able Network in August 2002. In her role as Vice President of Human Resources, she oversees staffing, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and training and development. As a member of Able’s executive team, Ms. Wilson actively participates in strategic planning for the agency as well as insuring its compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations. During her tenure at Able, Ms. Wilson has been responsible for implementing a new goal-based performance evaluation process, writing and introducing a new Personnel Policies and Procedures manual, enhancing and expanding employment benefit programs, and assisting in the opening all of Able’s offices. With more than 20 years of human resources experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors, Ms. Wilson brings a broad perspective and extensive background to her position. Most recently employed as Director of Human Resources for Lakefront Supportive Housing and for St. Jude League/Claretian Publications, she has found her passion lies in working for strong social service organizations that are focused on making a positive impact of people’s lives. Outside of work, she has led volunteer programs for a local nonprofit, Chicago Cares, and oversees her church’s food pantry in the Cabrini Green neighborhood. Ms. Wilson graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Communications. She received a Master’s degree in Management with concentrations in Human Resources and Marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. In addition, she has been a long-time member of the Society for Human Resources Management, as well as board member and interest group chairperson for the Human Resources Management Association of Chicago.
Joseph Jurek, Jr. is a certified public accountant, responsible for leading National Able Network’s financial operations as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since September 2003. In this role, Mr. Jurek works to integrate the agency’s financial goals and responsibilities into its overall management focus. He is in charge of the operational budget, accounting practices, financial statements, procurement and other fiscal control policies, and the development of working relationships with government and private industry fiscal providers. The 12-year veteran of accounting comes to Able with extensive background in both the finance and nonprofit industries. Most recently, Mr. Jurek worked as Corporate Controller to Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois where he managed a staff of 11 team members and spearheaded all financial processes for the organization. In addition, he worked at Arthur Anderson, LLP, for two years as Deputy Account Executive Controller for Jane Addams Hull House Association and District Controller for U.S. Office Products. Mr. Jurek also served as an Instructor of Financial Accounting at Purdue University in Hammond, Indiana, and is a member of its President’s Council and School of Management Advisory Committee. He earned both his BS and Master’s degree in Accountancy with honors at Purdue University in 1991 and 1999, respectively.
Debra Walker Johnson joined National Able Network, Inc. in May 2005 as the agency’s Vice President of Marketing and Development. She is responsible for the development and growth of Able’s private and public sector fundraising program and all marketing grant efforts. With more than 15 years of workforce development experience, Ms. Walker Johnson has successfully designed and implemented programs to increase the participation of women and minorities in the workforce, as well as secured funding to support these programs. Most recently, she served as the Executive Director of CTCNet Chicago, a start up membership organization consisting of more than 100 Chicago-area community technology centers that provides computer training to underserved community residents. She was instrumental in securing funding to create a statewide policy association to monitor Illinois’ technology initiatives. From 2000 to 2002, Ms. Walker Johnson worked as the Director of Community Initiatives for Women Employed, and prior to that served as the Director of the Employment & Training Program for Southwest Women Working Together. She is currently a member of the Chicago JOBS Council Board and is the past president of Illinois Women Work! Ms. Walker Johnson has also been a member of the City of Chicago’s Community Development Advisory Committee and the Economic Development sub committee, the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women in Illinois, the Statewide Non-traditional Leadership Team, Daley College’s Advisory Board, the Beverly Area Planning Association’s Public Education Committee, and Leadership Illinois. Ms. Walker Johnson received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roosevelt University and a Certificate from John Marshall Law School’s Community Law Program for Social Workers.
Vice President of Workforce Programs
Brian Caminer joined National Able Network in March 2008 as the Vice President of Workforce Programs. In this role, Mr. Caminer assumes responsibility for the oversight of Able’s workforce development programs, including the Trade Adjustment Act and the Workforce Investment Act programs in Pilsen, Calumet City, and Evanston/Arlington Heights. Mr. Caminer has over 20 years of legal and workforce development policy experience. Since 2006, Mr. Caminer has served as General Counsel for the City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services, acting also as an advisor for the annual procurement of $3 billion of goods and services from 44 departments. Mr. Caminer was also the legislative liaison on all local, state and federal matters. From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Caminer worked for the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development in numerous capacities. As Assistant Commissioner, he managed and directed the legal, financial and contractual business of the department. Mr. Caminer was also an integral member in departmental planning and policy making; he developed and implemented the legal guidelines and processes for ex-offender work services and programs, not only with the Mayor’s Office, but also with several other city departments. From 1989-1998, Mr. Caminer was the Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, Department of Law, Contracts and Commercial Law Division. Prior to his work with the City of Chicago, Mr. Caminer was in private practice, specializing in corporate law. Mr. Caminer received his Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction from the University of Michigan, a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law, and passed the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam.
Gayle Gamauf McCoy, MSW, LCSW Vice President National SCSEP
Gayle Gamauf-McCoy has joined National Able Network, Inc., as the agency’s vice president of National Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). She will represent National Able Network in executive-level relationships with key employers, government funders, business groups, chambers of commerce, and other corporate entities for the purpose of developing and expanding independent programs throughout the Midwest and Northeast regions.
Ms. Gamauf-McCoy is a successful administrative professional who is a nationally recognized presenter and trainer of non-profit and healthcare-related topics. Ms. Gamauf-McCoy has been featured in several media outlets such as the Time Magazine, Chicago Sun-Times, and Chicago Tribune. She has served in various executive-level positions where her analytical strategies have positively impacted the mission and growth of the organizations. Ms. Gamauf-McCoy serves on non-profit boards, including the past presidency of the American Cancer Society. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Ms. Gamauf-McCoy’s affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers; Social Work Administrators in Health Care where she served as president from 1997-1999; state board member, Illinois 1995-1999; National Society of Fund Raising Executives; Soroptimist International Women’s Service Organization; and Y-ME Board. She has a master’s degree from The University of Illinois at Chicago with a concentration in Administration Policy and Organizations, MSW, and a BA from the Valparaiso University. In 2001, Ms. Gamauf-McCoy was inducted in the Alumni Hall of Fame of the University of Illinois at Chicago and has received the YWCA Leader Award for Community Leadership.
