Therese Vande Hey is Associate General Counsel with ArcelorMittal USA LLC, the world’s largest steel and mining company. Her practice focuses on providing environmental, health and safety, and real estate counseling to the Company’s US operations. Prior to joining ArcelorMittal in July, 2012, Ms. Vande Hey spent over two years at National Able Network, as its Vice President of Contracts and Compliance.
Prior to joining Able, Ms. Vande Hey led the global product safety and environmental, health and safety legal practices at Motorola, Inc. She also served as lead counsel for several Motorola organizations and businesses. During her fifteen year tenure, Ms. Vande Hey was part of Motorola’s corporate transaction teams that was successful in pursuing strategic mergers, acquisitions and divestures, as well as strategic partnerships with numerous public and private entities. She gained extensive federal, state and local procurement experience based on her role as lead commercial counsel with Motorola’s public safety business.
Ms. Vande Hey was an associate with Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson (Chicago) from 1990-1993. Upon graduating from law school in 1988, Ms. Vande Hey served in a two-year clerkship with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Ms. Vande Hey has a BA in Political Science from St. Norbert College and a JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law where she was an editor on Kent’s Law Review. She is an experienced public speaker. Ms. Vande Hey served on the St. Athanasius School’s Board of Education in Evanston, Illinois. Currently, she assists various organizations in her community by providing pro bono legal and fundraising services.
