President, The Kelzon Group
Frank Poggio has more than forty years of experience in health care systems and served as a hospital administrator/CFO, software entrepreneur, and industry consultant. He is President of The Kelzon Group, a firm that focuses on HIT issues. Previously, Mr. Poggio was General Manager of Mediware, Inc., Blood Bank Division. He served as EVP of Pharmacy Data Systems Inc., and before that as President of Citation Computer Systems, Inc. In 1980, Mr. Poggio founded Health Micro Data Systems (HMDS). HMDS’ health care software was the first client-server system in the market and installed in more than 120 hospitals and health facilities around the country. HMDS merged with Citation in 1992 and became a publicly traded firm on NASDAQ.
He was VP and Associate Administrator, CFO and CIO at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and was Senior Consultant with KPMG for health information systems. Mr. Poggio is a frequent invited speaker for the HIMSS and HFMA. He served as a faculty member of the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Business, Health Care Fiscal Management Program for 13 years.
