Able’s Senior Services program is designed to provide supportive services for individuals 55 years of age or better. The Senior Services program helps older adults by coordinating eligibility assessments and referrals to existing community resources that provide food, medical services, energy assistance and government subsidies.
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a federally funded employment training program under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Labor.
SCSEP is a bridge to employment for mature workers who are deemed eligible for the program. SCSEP participants receive professionally developed Job Readiness Training, which is delivered in a classroom environment. Online, self-paced Microsoft® classes also are available at no charge to qualifying SCSEP participants.
SCSEP has formed collaborative partnerships with community service agencies to provide supportive, real work settings that help mature workers transition to unsubsidized employment.
SCSEP participants earn at least minimum wage while working up to 20 hours a week in eligible host agencies.
To become a SCSEP participant you must...
- be 55 years of age or better
- have a qualifying level of income.
- be willing to provide community service and attend training
- be willing to develop a personalized Individual Employment Plan (IEP)
- be currently unemployed
