On this St. Patrick’s Day, we want to send some luck your way!
Luck goes by many different names – chance, serendipity and even randomness. There are hundreds of interpretations of the word. Also, there are thousands of objects that are said to bring good fortune. For example, there is the horse shoe, the rabbit foot, and the lucky penny. Today, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we will focus on a symbol more closely linked to the luck of the Irish.
St. Patrick’s Day or not, it’s actually the four-leaf clover that is linked to luck! Each leaflet on the four-leaf clover symbolizes something special: the first leaflet is for love, the second is for faith, the third is for hope and the fourth is for luck. Keep these four words in mind throughout your job search!
Love. It is important to find a job you love! Apply for jobs in an industry that interests you. On average, individuals spend 90,000 hours at work over the course of a lifetime. So, loving what you do, day in and day out, will keep you happy, healthy, and looking forward to going to work every day!
Faith. Believe in yourself! Having a positive mindset and faith in your abilities is crucial. Throughout the day, take a minute to practice positive self-talk. An article from Success.com, gives a great example: “Instead of thinking ‘I shouldn’t have tried’ practice saying ‘That didn’t work out as planned—maybe next time.’” In the job search, a positive mindset is key!
Hope. Always remain optimistic! Make a career plan that includes your goals and how you plan to achieve them. Add a timeline to your plan, if that’s your style! Writing down your goals can keep you motivated to achieve them.
Luck. Some say you make your own luck – so go out there and make your own job search luck by networking! Do not just rely on the internet for your job search. Networking is one of the best ways to find your next career!
